Celebrate National Heart Month at the Fairbury Senior Center
February is National Heart Month and the Fairbury Senior Center, 601 City Park Road, Fairbury, Nebraska will be celebrating with an Open House on Thursday, February 25 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The public is invited to visit the Center, learn about the new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) that was recently placed in the Center through a partnership between Blue Rivers Area Agency on Aging and Public Health Solutions, and receive information on heart health.
The AED will be available for use throughout Fairbury and its placement in Fairbury is made possible through Saving Rural Hearts, a three year federally-funded program with a primary goal to increase survival rates from cardiac events by increasing bystander intervention with both CPR and an AED. As a part of this program, the Fairbury Senior Center will have at least one volunteer certified in CPR, an emergency response plan in place, and a signed placement agreement outlining responsibilities for oversight and maintenance necessary to keep the AED in a “ready-to-use” state. The Saving Rural Hearts program has also created an AED registry that identifies existing AED locations in the Public Health Solutions district.
