Zoe Olson, previously director of marketing and public relations for Aging Partners, an area agency on aging, has joined Blue Rivers Area Agency on Aging as the new Executive Director. With a Bachelor’s degree from UNL in journalism and a focus in advertising, she brings more than 30 years experience in marketing, public relations, communications and organization management to Blue Rivers AAA. A Nebraska native, she has personal experience in caregiving, hospice care and the needs of aging adults.
During her tenure at Aging Partners in Lincoln, Olson served as publisher, editor, and advertising director for Living Well magazine and as a producer of Live & Learn and other programs of interest to older adults on Lincoln’s public-access cable channels. She also successfully established the Outreach Education Breakfast Program, the popular annual walk “Age Strong! Live Long! Walk On!” held at Union College, and the Aging Partners Gala, a fundraiser produced in collaboration with the Seniors Foundation.
Prior to her work at Aging Partners, Olson served as executive director of the Nebraska Wheat Growers Association where she helped grow the membership, served as the association’s lobbyist, and helped create and implement numerous outreach and education opportunities including the Urban Wheatfield Experience in New York City and Washington DC featuring the Nebraska Wheat mobile baking lab.
Of her vision for Blue Rivers AAA, Olson says, “I am excited for the opportunity to serve older adults in Southeast Nebraska remain safe, independent and experience life to the fullest. They’ve earned our gratitude and our respect and I’m honored to lead a team of professionals who work so diligently to assist others.”
Olson lives in Lincoln with her husband, Jim. The couple have four adult children and two grandchildren.
