Blue Rivers Area Agency on Aging has announced Janice Price as its new interim executive director.
Price will fill the vacancy created by Director Julie Hippen’s retirement. The BRAAA hiring committee chose Price as an interim leader to allow time for the governing board to continue strategic planning for the agency.
“The combination of Janice Price’s knowledge of gerontology and her experience in social work and county government makes her a great candidate to assist the governing board to focus on thoughtful planning and quality service delivery,” Hippen said in a press release.
Price is a native of Petersburg, Va., and moved to Beatrice in 1971. She served on the Gage County Board of Supervisors from 1983-1989 and as chairman from 1986-1988. Price’s resume includes 33 years of Social Service work in various positions that include public welfare, education, medical, nursing home services, disability counseling, and Medicaid waiver.
She served as a program specialist for the State Unit on Aging from 1997 to 2008 and as the State Unit on Aging’s interim administrator until her retirement late in 2008.
Currently, Janice Price serves as the co-coordinator of the Community Pantry and lives in Beatrice with her husband of 50 years, Wayne Price.
BRAAA is a local public, non-profit agency supporting 15 senior center sites and offering care management and caregiver support services to serve aged individuals 60 and up in southeast Nebraska.
